In 1953, Sir Adrian Boult recorded Holst's "The Planets" for Pye / Nixa. This mono recording was replaced a few years later by a stereo version on Westminster, with the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. When I bought the Adrian Boult mono recordings boxed set from Warner / EMI last year, I was disappointed to note that this 1953 version was missing. To make good that omission, here it is:-

The Philharmonic Promenade Orchestra (pseudonym for the London Philharmonic Orchestra), the London Philharmonic Choir, chorus-master Frederick Jackson.

Recorded 10th - 14th September 1953, Walthamstow Town Hall, London.

Issued in 1954 on Nixa NLP 903.
