Boult made two visits to Vienna in 1959 to record for Westminster: Holst's "The Planets" & the two Vaughan Williams fantasies (Tallis & Greensleeves) have appeared on a DG disc, but there wasn't room for the English Folk-Song Suite. In 1953, Sir Adrian Boult recorded Holst's "The Planets" for Pye / Nixa. This mono recording was replaced a few years later by a stereo version on Westminster, with the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. When I bought the Adrian Boult mono recordings boxed set from Warner / EMI last year, I was disappointed to note that this 1953 version was missing.
